For people who use the Curso app to cook · Effective 8 October 2026
Curso helps you find what to cook from what you already have. To do that it needs to know some things about you, like what you can't eat and what's in your pantry. This page says what we keep, why, who helps us, and how to make it all go away.
1. Who we are
Curso is run by Mother Hubbard Holdings Pty Ltd (ACN 632 770 113, ABN 90 632 770 113), an Australian company registered in New South Wales, trading as Curso ("we", "us"). We are bound by the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).
This policy covers the Curso app for cooks: the iPhone app and app.gocurso.com. If you are a food creator or a brand using Curso's business products, your account is covered by the policy at gocurso.com/privacy.
2. What we collect
If you use Curso as a guest
Curso gives your device an anonymous account. Everything you add (allergies, pantry, saved recipes, plans) is kept against that anonymous account. We don't know your name or email.
If you sign in
Your name and email address, from Sign in with Apple or Google. If you use Apple's "Hide My Email", we only see the relay address.
Your allergies, the ingredients you avoid and your diet. We treat these as health information and use them only to filter recipes for you.
Your kitchen: pantry, saved recipes, collections, meal plans, shopping lists, notes, and household members you invite.
Recipes you add yourself, including recipes you type, import from a link, or photograph.
Photos you take or choose: recipe pages, receipts and cover photos.
Your device's notification token, your time zone and which notifications you have turned on, if you allow notifications, so we send only the kinds you chose and at a sensible hour where you are.
How you use the app: searches, recipes viewed, saved and cooked. We use this to improve results.
Technical information: device type, app version, and error reports when something breaks. We work out your country from your connection and do not store your IP address.
When you use the microphone in search, your iPhone turns your speech into text. We receive the text, never the recording.
3. How we use it
To run Curso for you: search, filtering by your allergies and diet, your pantry, plans and lists.
To read the recipes and receipts you photograph, and to fix a recipe we misread. People on our team may look at a scan to correct it.
To send you the notifications you turned on: a reminder a few hours before a meal you've planned, an update when someone in your household adds to your shared list or plan, a question after cooking about restocking, a Sunday check-in on your pantry, and "your recipe is fixed". Tips and news about Curso only go to you if you have turned them on. Each kind has its own switch, and you can turn any of them off at any time.
To keep Curso safe, including reviewing recipes other people report.
To improve Curso, and to produce combined statistics about cooking trends that we may share with food brands. These never identify you, and never include your searches or recipes as individual records.
We do not sell your personal information. We do not show ads in Curso, and we do not track you across other apps or websites.
4. Recipes from other websites
When you open a recipe from a creator's website, Curso shows that page inside the app. That website may set its own cookies and show its own ads, under its own privacy policy. Links to other sites open in Safari.
5. What you share
If you share a recipe you wrote with other Curso cooks, other people can see it and the name you share it under. If you join a household, its members can see the household's shared plans and lists, and members who turned on household updates get a notification with your first name and what you added. Nothing else you add is visible to anyone else.
6. Who helps us
These companies process information for us under their own security obligations. Where information is held outside Australia, we have checked that it is protected to a standard substantially similar to Australian law.

If you are unhappy with how we handled your information, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.
9. Security
Information is encrypted in transit and at rest, and only the people and systems who need it can reach it. No system is perfectly secure. If a breach is likely to cause you serious harm, we will tell you and the Information Commissioner, as Australian law requires.
10. Children
Curso is not designed for children under 16, and we don't knowingly collect their information. If you think a child has given us information, email us and we will delete it.
11. Changes
If we change this policy in a way that matters, we will tell you in the app before it takes effect. The current version is always at app.gocurso.com/privacy.
